Mile 13045

We leave this morning Watson Lake, YT after a solid night of rain and the sky doesn't look more promising neither.  But it doesn't matter to us, as we don't have to put our tent away wet; we stayed at the Andrea's Hotel last night already anticipating the rain.

Not looking promising, but still a nice view

One of the many bridges to pass

So we go back on to the ALCAN and make our way toward Whitehorse, YT, the capital of the Yukon Territory and the gateway to the Klondike.  But before that we make a stop at the Teslin Tlingit Heritage Center to learn a bit more about the First Nation People.  It is a nice center, but not as educational as those at the Pacific Coast.

Our destination for today, Whitehorse, YT is also the place up to where the sternwheeler boats could manage the Yukon River and from where on every good had to be transported by mule or horse.  From here on it was the adventure many of the prospectors were looking for during the great time of the Gold Rush.

Happy Birthday Ralph

We explore a little the town and places we missed in 2014 because of our late night arrival then, and then it is time to celebrate my birthday.
