Mile 19057

After another relaxing day in Victoria with doing a lot of nothing, except for sipping some nice cocktails, listening to the Symphony Orchestra playing at the lower harbor and watching people, we now have to leave the island and turn our car East, Southeast.

We once again take the ferry which brings us back to Tsawwassen, and from here we take the direction toward Kelowna, BC.  But we won't make it all the way today, even though we were able to get an earlier ferry ride.  But all is good, as the sun is shining and we are rolling easily through the blueberry, peach and cherry plantations here in lower BC.  Once again we are lucky that the wildfire west of Hope, BC has not yet come down far enough, and the roads remain open.  So we can make a stop in Hope, BC, the little town known for the making of the movie Rambo, First Blood, and so many other movies.

Wood carvings everywhere

There are nice and not so nice wood carvings throughout the whole town, and after we paid a visit to most of them, we continue on Hwy-5 to Merritt, BC and call it the day.  Easy day today, we find a nice camp site, set up and let the day run out.  Tomorrow we will have only a short drive to Kelowna, BC which is just fine.
