This morning we make the decision to end our road trip here in Santa Fe, NM and head back home. Elke's health hasn't improved, rather has worsen since our hikes in Zion N.P. and Bryce Canyon, but the hike in Arches N.P. must have brought her over the limit her body could take. It is best if we get her checked out at home and that's where we are heading to now. We find I-25 and go a little North on it to find the turn off for Hwy-285 which will connect us with I-40 East. Not a very exciting drive, but the shortest and fastest way home. But as we pass through Amarillo, TX I had to stop at the Cadillac Ranch. There are still 10 Cadillacs buried in the ground, but their colour scheme has changed a lot since our last visit 2003. Also the owner has become a little more entrepreneurial and is selling now spray cans for the visitors to enhance the cars paint job.

We also make a quick stop at the Cadillac RV Park and the 2nd Amendment Cowboy, and then we are back on I-40 East for another long run. In Memphis, TN we find our way through the web on highways and find our I-22 which shall bring us to Birmingham, AL to join I-20 East. From there it is to Atlanta, GA and further to Augusta, GA. No time for golf this time, we go on to Columbia, SC and Florence, SC, before turning Southeast on I-95 to find Hwy-74-76 in Lumberton, NC to bring us home via Shallotte, NC.
After three days and close to 2000 miles we turn into the driveway and park the car. Tired, but somehow also happy to be back home our road trip 2025 has come to an end. Now the priority is to get Elke back on her feet again that my travel partner is fit for the next great adventures.
