Mile 7030

 We leave Deer Lake, NL this morning and return back to the Viking Trail i.e. RT-430 and continue going North.  First we drive for the third time the same stretch to Rocky Harbour, NL and then have to make another stop at the S.S. Ethie shipwreck site because I had lost all my pictures from our visit yesterday during downloading to the laptop and on top had reformatted the memory card of the camera just to make the loss final.  Anyways, this morning turned out even more beautiful than yesterday, and because we were so early we had the site for us alone for quite some time.  When more visitors turn up we leave and continue beyond Western Brook Pond and move on North.  We take our time, stop here and there and soak in the rugged coast line and the beautiful weather we have today.  As we move further North the temperatures start to drop and fog is drawing in from the Strait of Belle-Isle, and as we had started with about 72F this morning, we end up at 38F just a little further down at Anchor Cove, NL.  But we have a great day as our sighting tally for today is a record:

Moose = 3
Caribou = 3
Icebergs = 2
Growlers = uncountable

We continue toward St. Anthony, NL and turn from Rt-430 onto Rt-435 to Cook's Harbour, NL, but the fog is getting so dense that it makes no sense to continue to Cape Norman and we turn around and call it the day at the Viking Lodge Motel.  And the day ends with a nice down pour to clean the car, but robs us of a possible sighting of the Northern Lights.
