Mile 8852

Sunday is greeting us with some sunshine and only a light haze over the St. Lawrence River.  We leave Cap-Sante, QC and continue on Rt-138 West, which brings us through many little towns and lots of farm land.  The flair the houses and towns express could be anywhere in the Provence in France, but it is Canada.  I definitely have to add this Route along the St. Lawrence River to my favorite roads in Northern America.  A quick stop in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Perade, QC to admire the mural 'Dame Nature' at the Rue Sainte-Anne, and we are off again to Trois-Rivieres, QC.  From there we continue on Rt-138 into Montreal, QC and into slow going.  Nevertheless we take time to make a stop at the Parc Olimpique and stroll through the site which hosted the summer olympics in 1976.  Then it's back into traffic and creeping to the west side of town.  It's surprising that it took us more than two hours to cross Montreal on Rt-138 and Hwy-20 on a Sunday afternoon, not to imagine what it would be on a workday.  We call it the day in Cornwall, ON and are left with some 270 miles tomorrow to our next stop.  It has been a gorgeous day, mostly blue skies, and temperatures almost like summer in the mid 80th.  Hard to believe that not a week ago we had temperatures close to freezing.  In Toronto we have to re-pack our clothing and prepare for the change to summer.
