It was raining over night and when we wake up we still have some drizzle on and off as we leave Cornwall, ON. We follow Rt-2 as much as we can along the St. Lawrence River but stop in Morrisburg, ON for the street murals. One is called the "WWII Homecoming" and is at the location where the old railway station was till 1958, before it was relocated 1 mile further north to the new railway connection. The other mural on a brick wall shows how life has been around 1910. Both very big murals, and nicely made. We go on and have another stop in Gananoque, ON. Also this mural depicts the life long gone, when this town had a huge shovel factory in the building where now the visitor center is located. It also has a nice sculpture garden displaying steel art of local artists, and some of the old buildings let you get a feel for the flair which was, and perhaps is coming back, in this town. We move on to Kingston, ON and pick up Rt-33 to bring us further West. South of Adolphustown, ON we take the ferry (once again this one is for free) over the Adolphus Reach to Glenora, ON. Since we have lost much time we skip the idea of picking up Rt-2 again and instead opt for the Highway to bring us away from the rain which has started, and closer to Toronto, ON before the weather gets worse. We run down Hwy-401, which at one point leads us onto Hwy-407 to bring us to the camp site in Brampton, ON just a few miles outside of Toronto. We set up camp with the Anex up, as we want to stay a couple of days out here, clean some of the equipment from the dust of the TLH, repair some things, and just chill from the miles we have done over the last week.
"The old world is tangible, solid, we live in it and struggling with it every moment - it exists. The world of the future is not yet born, it is elusive, fluid, made of the light from which dreams are woven." - Nikos Kazantzakis from the book 'Zorba the Greek', Greek writer, journalist, poet, and philosopher, 1883-1957
