Mile 7979

After a night of rain, it is still raining lightly this morning when we leave HVGB.  The hope is that the sun will come through, and so it happens when we pass along Gull Lake.  The view up here is just spectacular, but soon after haze is setting in and the sun is just a weak plop in the sky.  Even though the area is characterized as a mountain terrain, there is plenty of sand around here, and one could think those are dunes from a long gone ocean.  We continue our way to Churchill Falls, NL, and wonder if Labrador has any moose.  Fact is they have, but much less than in Newfoundland, and considering the size of this province (twice that of Newfoundland), one will be very lucky to see one.  And just as we were contemplating those facts, one is posing nicely for us.  We use the opportunity to capture some pictures, and then he is gone.  We top up our gas tank in Churchill Falls and continue to Labrador City, NL.  The sights remains pretty much as on the previous 150 miles, and so we roll toward the province border.  Shortly behind town we find a camp site and call it the day.

Gull Lake, and doesn't it look like a beach

Yes, Labrador has moose, and I'm here to prove it, bye

Tank stop right from the tank

Churchill Falls, bridge and view in both directions

Shabogamo Lake

Lots of miles today, and a lot of haze reminding us of the fires in the provinces of Alberta and Ontario.
