Yesterday we were cubed up in our Annex tent as it was raining cats and dogs all day long. Temperatures have fallen to the low 40th and with the wind hauling around the tent it feels more like lower 30th. It was a miserable day, cold, wet, and chilling to the bone. I read through a complete book, and so did Elke. The night was not much better, the rain worsening, and the wind shaking our rooftop tent. Sleep was hard to get, also because the aerial firefighting force was sending their planes to practice flights, and those propeller aircraft make serious noise. But at one point we dosed away and all was good and it was warm in our sleeping bags. We had a small leak at one of the windows (my error in the set-up) and took care of it this morning. As soon as there was a break in the downpour we collapsed our rooftop, secured the Annex, and drove to town in search for a laundromat (unsuccessful) and some place warm (successful). We strolled through a mall, had a great lunch at an Italian place on the east side of town, and visited the Montmorency Waterfall. From there we took the long way back to campsite (enjoying the heating in the car) just in time to finish the set-up before the next downpour started.
Balance for the day: High 44F, Low 38F, felt all day like 32F, wind 20mph w/gusts of up to 32mph, rainfall about 1". What are we doing here? And the forecast for tonight and tomorrow; more of the same all day and night.
