After arriving early morning in Port aux-Bosques, NL after a night of just a few hours of sleep on the ferry, we finally have made it to "The Rock". That's where we wanted to be in 2023, but then we wouldn't have met our good friends Elaine and Jim Power who we are going to meet now in their cabin near Stephenville, NL at Lake Gull Pond. They wait for us at the Stephenville Crossing exit at the TCH-1 and the welcome couldn't have been better. After a late breakfast together Jim drives us around the Peninsula and we get a good impression of what "The Rock" is like. Even though we are lacking some hours of sleep, over a nice dinner prepared by Elaine the story telling and catching up on the past two years continues into the late night.
Next day we venture off on our own and explore another bay. We pick up TCH-1 and head North to Corner Brook, NL and take Rt-450 to Lark Harbour, NL at the Bay of Islands. The mountain ranges along Humber Arm and York Harbour still carry snow and even though the day is overcast with gray clouds and some sprinkles here and there, but when the sun breaks through occasionally the sparkle of the mountains and the choppy waters create an unforgettable picture. Unfortunately like with so many roads here, the way out is the way back, and so the back trace our way back to the cabin again. Here the story telling continues, and when a good friend of Elaine and Jim joins us later the evening, stories about motorcycle travels and the odd encounters we all have had at one point in time find no end, and it turns into a late night again. What a great feeling to be with friends, even though we haven't seen each other for two years.
