After some rain during the night and this morning we leave Tatamagouche, NS with pretty gray skies. After we have booked our passage from Sydney, NS to Port aux Basque, NL for Monday night, we have some time to leisurely drive up to Cape Breton. Our first priority today is a stop at the Glenora distillery in Mabou, NS to pick up some of our favorite Whisky. We follow Rt-4 along the coast to New Glasgow, NS to find Rt-104 to Antigonish, NS. We cross over the Canso Causeway onto Cape Breton Island and make our way to Mabou, NS. But we are not lucky, the Glenora Distillery is closed and we have to leave empty handed. That sucks!!! And just as we try to recover from this set back, we get a message from the Marine Atlantic Ferry Service that due to adverse weather conditions the ferry services on Sunday and Monday will be impacted and possibly suspended. Since we know from our trip in 2023 that it can take days, if not weeks, before the backlog of trucks and cars are shuffled onto other ferries, we check with the reservation office and can get a berth on tonights voyage. Done deal, as long as we get to the island. We leave Mabou, turn South along Lake Ainslie, head towards Whycocomagh, NS and around the same named bay. We pass by Darby's Old Church Kitchen and the Highland Heritage Village to reach Iona, NS and the Grand Narrows. Then its North along the Grand Narrows to Sydney, NS, the road on which 2023 our trip to Newfoundland ended. Not this time, and we reach Sydney, NS without any engine failure.
