Mile 2767

After a restful weekend, some cruising around MDI and Arcadia, and having spent some time with good friends which we unfortunately see far to seldom, we leave this morning Jimmy and Chelsea to continue our way North.  The sky is sunny and driving up North is a breeze.  We make a slight detour to the CVS in Bangor, ME to pick up some prescription refills, and then we head out towards Canada.  In Bangor we take shortly I-95 West just to leave it again in Newport, ME to follow the SR-23 and SR-151 before hitting Hwy-201 and following the Kennebec River.  We pass Wyman Lake and continue further North on the "Old Canada Road" (Hwy-201) to Jackman and shortly later cross into Canada.  Here the Hwy changes into Hwy-73 and follows the Riviere Gilbert and then Riviere Chaudiere before crossing the St. Lawrence River to make our way to L'Ancienne Lorette a little outside of Quebec.  Here we will set-up base for the next couple of days.

Just some lessons from today:  Your should be able to answer "Parles-tu francais?" in the province of Quebec better with "Qui" otherwise you don't understand very much here.  And if you receive a new passport, don't forget to sign it on page three or the immigration officer at the border will let you know, friendly, but determined.

"We French-Canadians belong to one country, Canada.  Canada is for us the whole world, but the English-Canadians have two countries, one here and one across the sea."  -  Sir Henri Charles Wilfried Laurier, seventh prime minister of Canada from 1896 to 1911
