This morning we say goodbye to our friends Jim & Elaine. We may meet up again on the East side when we are in St. John's, NL as Conception Bay is just around the corner. But for today we will pick up TCH-1 again and go North, passing Corner Brookk, NL and heading toward Deer Lake, NL. Here we move onto Rt-430 (the Viking Trail) and enter Gros Morne N.P. Unfortunately the visitor center is closed and we can't get our Canada Parks Passes, but we will try again tomorrow at one of the entrance points. Following the East Arm of the Bonne Bay is just beautiful, and even though it is cold and windy, we make many stops to soak in the views. We end the day at Rocky Harbour, NL, but not before driving out to Lobster Cove to have a look at the lighthouse and the bay. The sun in the afternoon becomes strong enough to raise the temperatures a couple of degree and to burn some holes into the cloud, and we hike a little on the trails around Lobster Cove.

Lobster Cove Lighthouse, the chores of the keeper written on the stair to the tower
Something unusual, but nevertheless pointing out the importance of the lighthouses along the Newfoundland coast line, the chores of the lighthouse keeper or keepers, which was a 24/7 job, are written on the stairs to the tower (just a few here):
Clean lens and chimneys
Polish burner, reflectors, windows
Fill oil reservoirs
Trim wicks
Colourful houses at the Bonne Bay
"The role of a lighthouse keeper could be summed up in three words, 'Tend the Light.'" - John Cook from the book 'The Last Lighthouse Keeper'
Glad to see you made it to Rocky Harbour. We hope you have a warm night wherever you are. It was a pleasure to be your host for a couple of days. We will meet up again sometime. Safe Travels. Jim and Elaine
